What about organized high-school sports?
Playing sports through your local middle/high school is governed by the Alabama High School Athletic Association. In 2016/17, "The Tim Tebow Bill" was tabled and the AHSAA changed their bylaws to allow 7-12 grade students to play organized sports for the public school system in which they are zoned.
The best local resource for navigating the homeschool sports maze is the Facebook group, Supporters of Alabama's Tim Tebow Bill, a group created and maintained by parents with extensive experience with the subject.
